Side-by-side comparison
| Decision factor | YM-102 side-hole machine | YZ-61/62 six-sided drill |
|---|---|---|
| Main scope | Horizontal side holes and grooves | Top, bottom and horizontal drilling |
| Positioning/workflow | Infrared positioning described in catalog | HIGERMAN control & CAM |
| Panel range | 50–2400 mm length; 50–1000 mm width; 10–50 mm thickness | 150–3000 mm length; 35–1200 mm width; 8–50 mm thickness |
| Catalog spindle data | 2.2 kW; 18,000 r/min | 6 kW × 2; 18,000 rpm |
| Best fit | Cost-sensitive horizontal boring station | Broader automated drilling coverage |
Typical selection cases
- Choose YM-102: the nesting router creates reference features and downstream work mainly requires side holes or grooves.
- Choose YZ-61/62: the line must process multiple panel faces with less manual repositioning.
- Compare both: hole families, batch size and line balance vary by product, so use representative panels.
Drilling acceptance test
- Provide drawings with hole diameter, depth, face, spacing and groove dimensions.
- Test the minimum/maximum panel sizes that matter in production.
- Measure hole position, depth, tear-out and repeatability.
- Record setup, data input and complete cycle time.

Side-hole and six-sided drilling comparison questions
Can a side-hole machine replace a six-sided drill?
Only when the required work is mainly horizontal edge drilling and any vertical holes are completed upstream. It does not provide the same face coverage.
Which option needs more software integration?
Six-sided drilling usually needs a more complete design, barcode or production-data workflow. The YM-102 is intended for a simpler infrared-positioning process after nesting.
Which machine is better for a small cabinet factory?
A side-hole machine can be a practical first step when volume is moderate and horizontal holes are the bottleneck. The decision still depends on labor, part mix and growth plan.
How should drilling accuracy be accepted?
Use a real connector pattern and measure hole diameter, depth, edge distance, spacing and alignment on assembled parts, not on an isolated test hole alone.
